Weeds, Leaves, and Death

MilkweedThere are weeds and there are weeds. There are plants that seem more like weeds. Though we don’t want weeds in our gardens, sometimes even weeds can be somewhat beautiful.

Originally God made everything good. Weeds came along with human sin, it was a package deal.
“Cursed is the ground because of you…both thorns and thistles it will grow for you.”
Gen.3:17-19

Our rebellion against our Creator brought weeds, hate, wars, storms, sickness, pain, and ultimately death. But in the midst of their unsightliness, the weeds have a kind of beauty, and of course Photoshop helps.

Even as leaves die each year we see beauty in their blazing deaths, as they try to mimic Good Friday when Christ was crucified for us. New life appears each Spring and will continue until He returns.
In the midst of death there is still the promise of Jesus, that sin has been paid for and new life without sin, pain, and weeds is coming when Christ returns. Then we will rise, as He arose, from our graves.
Even after the fall of man into sin, still:
“The whole earth is full of His glory.” Isaiah 6:3

    1. The lake is recently, the dandelions and fall leaves last year. I didn’t have a blog then. And I don’t want to move to the North Pole. My husband keeps threatening to move us to Wyoming. I think that’s as North as I’ll ever get. I wear a jacket most of the Summer. I’m always cold.
